Meet Buddy and Pedro, two male African penguins at the Toronto Zoo. They have paired off to nest together and exhibit other telltale mating behaviors, such as touching, making braying sounds and defending their territory.
The Toronto Zoo is taking a different approach from the zookeepers at New York City’s Central Park Zoo in 2009 (see And Tango Makes Three). They will be separating these two so they can fulfill their biological destiny - to produce more African penguins. Read more…
